The Evaluation of Main Campus Area of Kilis 7 Aralık University in Terms of “Xeriscape” Approach

Abstract
Water and water connected sources are indispensable elements of life. But in recent years, some factors such as increasing the world population, climate change due to global warming, have negative impact on the quantity and quality of water. So, it raises serious problems for water. This situation requires particularly effective utilization of the available water potential in arid ecosystems. At this point the work of landscape architecture to minimize water use targeted "xeriscape" is an important and actual approach. This study conducted out at main campus area of Kilis 7 Aralık University (KIYU) that was seventh in the Greenmetric measurements among Turkish universities in 2015. In the study, green spaces of the campus was evaluated of "Xeriscape" approach within the framework of the basic principles; it was concluded that the planning and design of the green spaces was appropriate to many of these principles.
