Istanbul Technical University Faculty Member, Sustainable Production and Consumption Association President. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 1982 with the title of Chemical Engineer. He received his MSc and PhD degrees from ITU and did his postdoctoral research at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Nova Scotia Technical University, Canada. Karaosmanoğlu, who received the title of Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering Energy Technology in 1993, works at the Department of Chemical Engineering at ITU. His main research area is biorefinery technology (Biofuels; Biochemicals; Biopower Production) and he works on lubricating oils, waste upcycling, life cycle assessment and ecodesign under the heading of clean production technologies, sustainable production-consumption-service; bioindustrial products; renewable energy applications; adding value to waste, sustainability management in industry, product carbon and water footprint reduction
